Spent another 2 hrs on this guy and got the head and skirt built.
This be an old kit so the torso doesn’t have any inner frames but it’s engineered nicely though. You just have to built the armor over another armor xD
Slapped the core block inside instead of the core fighter. Yeah the core block looks dull, I’m not complaining though.. It won’t be seen once the gunpla is built.
Err.. That’s pretty much how ZZ’s skirt would look like, for anyone who owns an actions base you would notice that the skirt’s connector is design similarly to one.
Overall I’m not regretting buying this first over the Zeta Gundam 2.0, though I’m painting this one in another color.. Thinking of going either something similar to a FAZZ or a Nu.
Been too busy with college that I didn’t notice I haven’t posted a single entry for this month. Here comes the newly bought gunpla, the MG Full Armor ZZ Gundam.
I find it funny that once again I skipped buying a ver. 2.0 for an older gunpla. The first was the MG GP01 FB over the MG Gelgoog 2.0, now this over an MG Zeta Gundam 2.0.
Compared with normal sized mobile suits like the Mk-II and Zaku II the Full Armor ZZ Gundam’s box is really huge! Comes with 31 runners at that.. xD
For anyone wondering.. I haven’t forgotten about the photoshoot/review of the GP01 and RX-178 Mk-II, will do it whenever I’m in the mood.
Finished painting everything (skipped the inner frame because that’s just a waist of paint).. Still has to apply the decals and do the panel lines.
Had tons of mistakes on this guy, good thing I kept my cool and calmly tried to fix them all up. Now isn’t that noticeable unless you really look for them.
Still have to paint the insides of the verniers red, initial plan was them to be in gold but unfortunately I ran out of it..
Am too cheap to buy a new can just for the verniers. (Yes, I’ll be doing some masking for the shoulder armors and white part thingy).
Not really liking the decals/clear stickers that came with this kit (too big for my taste), will use the leftovers from the Zaku II and Mk-II..
P.S. Next update would be the full review alongside the photodump, would be done by the 2nd week of March at the earliest.
Little work was done last week so I didn’t bother posting any WIP, only the armor for the arms was painted and most seamlines removed. Picked up the pace last night and got into a painting blitz..
The weather wasn’t cooperating, it was really windy and the temperatures made the matte topcoat frost.. Could only topcoat some parts (don’t mind the beam sabers ^^,)
Aside from applying the decals here’s the rest of the gundam that still needs to be painted, still undecided if I would remove the seamline from the GP01’s head..
Sure I’ve remove many seamlines already but I’m still a bit iffy when it comes to modifiying the head xD
P.S. For those that was waiting for my mods I’m very sorry but I’m dropping it, I found out that a complete overhaul of the joints is needed to really drastically articulate this kit..
Modifying the armors/inner frame could add so little articulation xD
Finished building the whole thing though I’m only halfway done.. Next thing that I’ll be doing is modding some parts for better articulation/assembly for painting and getting rid of the visible seamlines.
Close up of the upper half.. Would be modding the limbs, will leave the torso, skirt and backpack alone.
Despite the 9 year gap on their release dates the GP01 FB’s proportions looks just as good as the newer RX-178.. The same couldn’t be said about it’s arms and articulation though. xD
I find it odd that this guy doesn’t have a hyper bazooka.. A pretty standard armament for any mobile suit.
Finished building the legs last Saturday but only had the chance to take pictures this morning.. Been pretty busy with college stuff and whatnot.
Unlike the torso the legs has a complete inner frame.. Has decent articulation but it gets hindered once you place the armor on.
Looks badass just standing there, even without the arms.. Even more so after I’m finished with this guy. Fufufu~
The instant I went got to building the legs I instantly noticed that it looked oh so familiar with the Zeon mobile suits..
Looks too plain.. Nothing some panel lines couldn’t fix.
Thinking of dropping the plan of modding this guy for better poses. It’s articulation is good enough for aerial shots. And oh, more boosters!
I’m starting to really like this one after building the torso and the skirt. Unlike the core fighter, building the other parts was quite a breeze. Too bad the torso doesn’t have an inner frame.
The design is like 18 years old but it still looks so damn good. Credit goes to the mecha designer Shōji Kawamori.
Did I say that I really like the design of this mecha? :3 Even though this is based from the RX-78-2 it doesn’t remotely resemble it.. Yes that’s a good thing. Also some might notice the ‘mold flash’ on the v fin..
Not really liking the plain large ass verniers at the moment. Don’t get me wrong though.. I absolutely love the GP02 “Physalis” and even the larger Virtue/Seravee Gundam.
